Share

Kristen Pfautz Woolley, R.N., B.S.N., L.S.W. was the guest on the October 6th segment of “Her Perspective” on WPMT Fox43 News at 4.

Herself the victim of childhood sexual abuse, Kristen had a vision of a place that could help other women who have experienced this to realize that they do not have to feel alone or heal alone. She spoke with Heather Warner about the creation of Turning Point Women’s Counseling and Advocacy Center … a place for healing from childhood sexual abuse. Kristen is the Clinical Director & Founder of Turning Point, and she shared some sobering statistics:

  • 1 in 10 children will be violated before their 18th birthday
  • 95% of all perpetrators are known to the victim
  • 1 in 5 children will be solicited while on the internet
  • The average age of disclosure of abuse is age 42.

Kristen also talked about her support of Representative Mark Rozzi’s House Bill. Current Pennsylvania law prevents many victims of child sexual abuse from facing their perpetrator in court. State Representative Mark Rozzi’s House Bill 2067 allows for victims of child sexual abuse with expired statute of limitations to come forward and seek civil suit against their perpetrator. This Bill would give victims the opportunity to seek justice and protect future generations of children. The Bill currently sits in the House Judiciary Committee awaiting approval to be passed onto the House Floor for a vote.
